FIRST SUNDAY - JULY

Advance notice is given of our First Sunday Event for July. This will be our annual Celebration and Prizegiving, 1st July, and held at the East Stour School. This will include prizes for the bright sparks, kingdom kids and flame youth cell. Starting at 10.30am, the event will then flow into a celebration meal. We hope you will keep this day free, and look forward to sharing it with you.

HEALING AND DELIVERANCE

An evening of teaching and equipping was held last evening at our church centre, to explore Healing and Deliverance ministry. We recognised as part of this that this ministry was of course at the heart of all Jesus was and did - the proclaimation and demonstration of the KIngdom among His People. We recognised that this was the true mission of the Christian Church, and that God has entrusted to us this ministry, to reach into the lives of broken people, and seek to help them to find peace with God. For further information on this, or to receive a copy of the teaching booklet, then please contact us.

THIS SUNDAY

This Sunday will be a special day, starting at 10.30am, and this will include the blessing of the marriage of Carol and Bryan Monk, on their 30th anniversary. Following this there will be a celebration buffet. This is being held at East Stour School as usual. Our Leadership Team meet at 3.30pm for a meeting chaired by assistant senior leader Carl, and this will flow into discipe college, which this month will focus on vision and direction, and include much time for prayer.

CELEBRATION 100

Today, we shared a great Celebration of 100 years of Women's ministries within The Salvation Army. Our Home and Family Meeting changed its format from its annual rally to be an in house, invite people in the community, celebration. The meeting featured the queen presenting medals to various members of the home and family team, and our senior leader gave a short presentation on the history of women's ministries. A celebration buffet finished the time off, and completed a real special time. Thank you to everyone for making this possible today

MRS COMMISSIONER WINIFRED READ

During Holiday 2007 we were blessed by an evenings visit from Commissioner Harry and Mrs Commissioner Winifred Read. They both shared their passion for serving and loving Jesus and the life that has brought them great fulfilment and satisfaction. It was a great evening, and we thank God for this. An email received by our senior leaders this morning, inform us from Commissioner Harry, that Mrs Read was taken ill last evening and went to be with her Lord at 3.30am. We thank God for the life of this saint, and uplift before God the commissioner and his family at this time. Servant of God - well done!

SUNDAY 3RD JUNE

Morning Worship was led by our senior leaders and focussed on THE HOLY SPIRIT AND FIRE. Our hall was full with so many people, which again was encouraging, and with a number away because of sickness and holidays. However God was among us and challenged us through His Word. Being the First Sunday in the month we shared our Family Meal, and then THE EVENT, which this month was subjected: If you want it....its yours, and looked at how God seeks to reach out to us with His gifts, and gives us that power to be better people. However we also explored how God's heart must ache when we choose not to accept what He has for us.

HOLIDAY 2007

Twenty Six People have just returned from Bournemouth, having enjoyed Holiday 2007. As well as time for holiday there was also time for retreat and reflection, and our focus for this was I will pour out My Spirit (see earlier blog for this). A guide/manual was prepared for this. We were blessed so much by having with us John Patey an adherent member at Wokingham Corps, who drove the bus, and brought his wife Patricia, and also support from friends at Boscombe Corps as well. Preparation is now underway for next years holiday to Torquay - open to anyone who would like to attend. The picture here is the group picture taken at the end of the week. Further pictures might well follow throughout the week!

prayer warrior

how and where do we begin to say thanks to God when goodness and blessings flow abundantly?
This last week has been a steady flow of love, sharing, and caring, awareness of the needs of others, in a way non existant in our family inherited by birth. Luke 12v52 speaks of division not peace in families, how father will be against son, mother against daughter, inlaws against inlaws, this is the picture so often lived in the world today, so how did twenty six people differing ages, differing backrounds, differing needs, differing ideals live together in complete harmony, expressing such deep love for each other have such consideration such contentment in each other live together for 7 days when very often families cannot be in each others company for more than an hour without some kind of conflict. It can only be because we as a family of God have found deep contentment through Jesus Christ. When we have reached that level of contentment within ourselves we display it to all around us I Timothy 6 v6 Godliness with contentment is great gain, and thats how Gods love in us was expressed throughout the whole week. I thank God for being part of this family heaven i am certain is dancing with joy and the joy of the lord is our strength not by might not by power but by his Holy spirit what a wonderful family we have, thank you God
